This Privacy Policy describes how the Meridian iOS application (the “App”), developed by Meridian Athletics LLC (“Meridian,” “we,” “us”), handles your information.
Meridian is local-first. The App has no accounts, no servers, no analytics, no advertising, and no trackers. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share your personal information. Your health and training data is read from Apple Health with your permission, processed on your device, and stored only on your device. The App’s privacy manifest and App Store privacy label reflect this: Data Not Collected.
There are exactly two moments when anything leaves your device, both operated by Apple, not us: your approximate location is sent to Apple’s weather service when you ask the App to fetch current conditions, and Apple processes your subscription purchase. Details below.
With your permission, the App reads the following from Apple Health. You choose what to grant in the Health permission prompt and can change it at any time in the Health app (Sharing → Apps → Meridian).
Recovery signals: heart-rate variability (SDNN), resting heart rate, respiratory rate, sleeping wrist temperature, sleep analysis.
Workouts and training: workouts, heart rate, VO₂ max, active and basal energy, step count; running, cycling, and swimming distance; running speed, power, stride length, ground contact time, and vertical oscillation; cycling power, cadence, and speed; swimming stroke count.
Body and profile: body mass, height, date of birth, and biological sex (used for baseline calculations such as heart-rate zones and energy needs).
Cycle data: menstrual-flow records, used only to infer your cycle phase and show general training and fueling guidance on your device.
Blood glucose: if you record glucose in Apple Health (for example from a CGM), the App can display your latest reading as informational fueling context. The App never uses glucose to make dosing or medical recommendations.
With your permission, the App writes the nutrition you log (energy, carbohydrates, protein, fat, sodium) to Apple Health so your food log stays in sync with your other apps.
All of this processing happens on your device. Health data is never transmitted to us — we could not read it even if we wanted to, because we operate no servers.
If you tap “Use current location weather” on the fueling screen, the App asks for while-in-use location permission and requests a single, kilometer-accuracy location fix. That location is sent to Apple’s WeatherKit service to retrieve current temperature and humidity. We do not receive, store, or log your location; the fix is used for the lookup and discarded. Apple’s handling of WeatherKit requests is described in Apple’s privacy policy. Weather is optional — you can always enter conditions manually.
Subscriptions are processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We never receive your name, payment details, or billing address. The App verifies your subscription using Apple-signed transaction records on your device. The 14-day free access period is tracked in your device’s secure Keychain (marked device-only, never synced to iCloud Keychain).
Reminders (for example, morning readiness or fueling log reminders) are local notifications scheduled on your device. No notification content passes through our systems or any push server.
The App’s training records, plans, and settings are stored in the App’s private container on your device, protected by iOS device encryption. Like other app data, this container is included in your iCloud or computer backup if you have backups enabled — those backups are encrypted and controlled entirely by you through your Apple ID; we have no access to them.
To delete the App’s data, delete the App (iOS removes its container). Data the App wrote to Apple Health, and the underlying Health data it read, is managed separately in the Apple Health app, where you can review and delete it at any time. To stop the App from reading Health data without deleting anything, revoke its permissions in the Health app.
Because we hold no copy of your data, we have nothing to delete on our side — and nothing to lose, breach, or hand over.
Some U.S. states (including Washington and Nevada) require specific disclosures from apps that handle consumer health data, which includes the fitness, sleep, cycle, and glucose information described above.
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — including children. Our Terms of Use require users to be at least 16.
The App processes your data locally on your device wherever you are. We do not transfer personal data internationally because we do not receive it. For users in the EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions: because Meridian does not collect or process your personal data on its systems, most controller obligations do not arise; where the App processes data on your device, it does so solely to provide the features you request.
If we change this policy — for example, if a future feature ever transmits data off your device — we will update the effective date above and provide prominent notice in the App before the change takes effect. We will never retroactively reduce the privacy of data handled under a previous version of this policy.
